Everything went well with the Flag raisings. We even had 20-25 mph
winds to make them highly visible being hoisted. I received many compliments
on our Remembrance effort, in particular the Flags and pins. All cudos
go to you and your vision to remember our fallen in such an honorable
and respectful manner.
The woman who we purchased the Pendent declined to come to the Pentagon
ceremony so her son will take it to Hilton Head, S.C. and give it to
her. I'm sorry I will be unable to see her in person.
I sent a Flag to Trumbo Naval Air Station in Key West to the Fire Department
on base. Station #2 personnel treated me well on a visit there in April
so I sent them a Flag and some T-shirts. The package went to the Chief's
office instead of the station and the firefighter, Mike Delph, was called
to the office to get it. Since they did not know it was coming, imagine
the surprise. I spoke to Mike today and he said the entire staff was
in awe and heart-struck. Do not be surprised to get a phone call and
an order as Mike said the Chief was bragging heavily to the City and
County Chiefs about what they did not have. The Chief is trying to get
permission from the Navy to fly it at the base stations.
I thank you again for allowing me to be such a big part in what will
probably be the most significant, influential and meaningful experience
I will ever be able to share with others in my life. It is amazing that
such a "great idea" can help people feel good and be honored.
I will keep in touch. Be safe and God Bless.
Your Flag Bearer, Jeff
