I am a lifeguard in Avon-By-The-Sea, New Jersey. Almost all the lifeguards
working there have lost friends and family in the WTC attacks. As public
rescue and first aid employees, we work side by side with many police,
fire, and first aid workers, and feel an attachment to all those brave
rescue workers who lost their life that horrible day. Until this week,
none of us had ever heard of the remembrance flag. A lady named Karen
came to our stand and gave us two bumper sticker flags. We were instantly
fascinated at the symbolism (although we did not notice that the red
symbolized the bloodshed or that the circle represented the unity).
After studying the flags, we put one on the lifeguard bench and one
on the back of the rescue boat... We have already received compliments
for the two stickers we have displayed on the boat and stand, and referred
them to your website.
